For this film-making task we were made to create a film that represents an image that we were given. My image was a large tree, and I subsequently wanted to explore the connotations that surround this such as nature, growth and natural beauty. For this piece I wanted to create a juxtaposition between the urban world and the natural world, hence the reasoning for my inclusion of repeated high angle shots showing increasing piles of waste surrounding a tree. These same high angle shots show the domination of consumerism and it's impact on our surrounding world. The beginning of my film captivates the beauty of nature and how this beauty can resonate when it isn't being corrupted. As the film progresses harsh shots skateboard wheels are used to emphasise man's intervention of the natural world, the wheel is a man-made creation. Love Actually Evaluation Micro elements: Mise-en-scene: Regarding mise-en-scene I attempted to lay out a clear understanding of the collective aspects. To begin with, I wanted to establish a suitable setting to match the theme of the scripted movie “love actually” the scene in which I was tasked with recreating is set within 10 downing street and because of this I felt like I required a business-like professional set; Hence, a school being a perfect setting. Following this, lighting played an integral aspect in the functioning of a well-formed scene, I wished for every shot to be bright yet not glaring, like the actual scene; therefore, artificial lighting was used throughout the whole cut excluding one outside scene. The element of costume was addressed by using our schools’ uniform, suits and formal clothing. This was a suitable choice as it directly matched the costume shown in the actual scene. Link to Video This was my attempt at creating the 'duplication' special affect using Premiere Pro. although the final piece was not as a successful as I was hoping for, I still managed to improve the initial edit's quality become more versatile in Premier Pro. From this task I learned how to approach layering footage, contrasting colours and ways to make different footage align properly.
