Coursework Five Minute Final piece: Mise-en-scene application

In regards to Mise-en-scene I plan on creating a very naturalistic environment. For setting I plan on using fields and woodlands to emphasise the rural area of an English village. For lighting I plan on using exclusively natural lighting to allow the film to stray away from the constructs of modern urban life, until the character enters his home.

Coursework Five Minute Final piece: Narrative application

An older gentlemen, struggles to walk through his peaceful homely English village. We see him encounter a missing persons poster depicting a girls face and details surrounding her disappearance. The old man will act sympathetically and then disregard the poster before returning home. He will be greeted by his family members as he prepares dinner for them in an extended cooking scene. The same missing persons poster's can be seen around his house as he serves the meat of the missing girl to hos oblivious family.

Coursework Five Minute Final piece: Sound application

Sound is going to be an integral aspect of my short film. I will utilise both diegetic and non diegetic sound throughout the film and also plan to use a large variety of foley sound. As the plot becomes more convoluted and unsettling I plan to match the soundtrack with the footage. Dialogue will be used between the protagonist and his family but will be kept minimal. Ultimately I plan on sound effects being the most predominant aspect of sound throughout the film.

Coursework 5 Minute Final piece: Final Idea

I completely changed my final idea, initially my shot film was going to depict an individuals journey through the five stages of grief. However I was unsure how I could properly create an effective narrative My final idea now is to create a dramatic psychological horror following an elderly man as he recounts a demonic encounter he had at the age of 14 to a journalist. The short film will utilise flashback regularly and will feature a 5 minute long monologue inter cut with re-creations of the past events the protagonist is describing.
